A Helpful Guide with Ageing
Age in Moons
{1 moon} 1 month
{12 moons} 1 year
{5 years} The prime of a cat's physical fitness
Agiing Your Character
{Kit} 1 irl day = 1 ic moon
{Apprentice} 3 irl days = 1 ic moon
{Warriors} 1 irl week = 1 ic moon
{Elder} Same as warrior
{Leader} Same as warrior
{Medicine cat} Same as warrior
Aging Through Life
{6-8 moons} it is possible for a she-cat to get pregnant, though highly looked down upon in the clans.
{9 weeks, roughly 2 1/2 moons} how long a she-cat is pregnant.
{1/2 moon} kits open their eyes eyes, ears, and take their first steps.
{1 moon} kits can retract their claws.
{1 moon} kits start to respond to their surroundings and speech.
{1 - 1 1/2 moons} kits can start eating solid food.
{6 - 8 moons} become an apprentice.
{18 - 20 moons} become a warrior.
{22 - 26 moons} a warrior may receive an apprentice.
{38 - 40 moons} to have trained an apprentice
{60 moons} to become a senior warrior at the height of a cat's prime
{90 moons} the very earliest to become an elder, granted there are no other complications
{38 - 40 moons} Is the youngest a cat can be to become a deputy.
{20 moons} is the very least I image a cat becoming a fully trained medicine cat, though I imagine many more moons are required to become highly skilled.
{40 moons} is the earliest likely age for a leader, granted the previous one dies fairly early in life
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your character realistic! I understand that it is hard to translate cat years to human years, so hopefully the information I provided will help. 60 moons does /not/ translate to a 60 years old two-leg, but instead represents the 5th, and prime, year of a cat's life.
