RULES
These rules are to be followed. Ignoring or going against these in any way will first result in a warning, then a temporary ban. If it persists, you will be banned permanently from the site. We don’t want to start any mindless and needless drama. Other than that, have fun!CHARACTER RULES
1. Only four characters, only 1 high position. This is so that you don't have an overabundance of cats running around not being used, and leave some high positions open for those who haven't had a turn. Two of those characters may be in one clan of your choice. The other two characters may be a loner, rogue, Towncat/Pureblood, or other assorted animals that are found in the area.
2. Clan cats must have names that follow ailuronymic traditionalism. A guide to this style of naming can be found here. If your character's name is not in this style, or does not suit the cat (i.e. a slow, brown cat named Snowfoot), your character will be rejected.
EDIT: This rule applies to ALL characters, including any mentioned in your character's history!
3. Characters outside of the clans must have names that are either in English or in Welsh. This rule is subject to change. But for now, it would be best if you stuck to these languages when naming non-clan characters for realism's sake.
3. Rogues must have been previous clan members, or have been wronged by the clans in some way. Whether they disagreed with the code, or despised their leader's methods, Rogues must have something against the clans in order to be what they are: Rogues.
NOTE: Rogues may keep their warrior names, they may adopt a new name, or they may keep only their prefixes. It really depends on your preference.
4. Your character's pelt must be able to appear on accident and in nature. By 'on accident', I mean colors and patterns that can appear in domestic non-purebreds. No points, curled ears, bengal patterns, rosettes, or legitimate spots are allowed (the spotted tabby is as close as you can get, I'm afraid).
5. THERE ARE NO PUREBREDS ALLOWED IN SHERWOOD RISE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
6. CHARACTERS WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN SHERWOOD RISE. NO EXCEPTIONS. We do not condone the glamorization of mental disorders here. This includes trauma, so stay away from "woe is me, tragic pasts."
7. Please design your characters so that they have well-rounded personalities. This one is a little hard to explain. Just make sure your character has his/her flaws to outweigh his/her positive traits. If your character is on the Mary-Sue side, he/she will be rejected.
8. Character histories must fit their clan settings. Do not include major events, such as, a natural disaster, that would affect the entire clan in your character's history. It would jumble the time stream. You would become your own grandparent! Also, characters who have had previous clans that are not in Sherwood (i.e. Thunderclan, Treeclan, etc.) will be rejected.
9. Healing ability strictly belongs to medicine cats and their apprentices. If you want your character to know the basics of healing, they must roleplay training sessions with the medicine cat (and the medicine cat has the right to deny your character these lessons).
10. There will be no "destiny medicine cats." Unless plotted by the staff, there will be no guaranteed medicine cat apprenticeship for any character; even if they have a physical deformity that prevents them from warrior-hood, or a strong sense of spirituality. Apprentices are chosen by the medicine cats alone.MAP AND ROLEPLAY RULES
1. Absolutely no god-modding, auto-hitting, or over-powering will be tolerated in roleplay.
Example of god-modding/over-powering
“Whitepaw sprang into the air and caught the hawk skillfully and killed it with one bite.” Cats can’t kill other predators unless there is a long hard battle, usually involving other cats. It's almost unfeasible for one warrior to take down a large predator, let alone an apprentice.
Example of auto-hits
"Junipertail hissed and charged at the cat with murderous intent. Her claws unsheathed and dug into the pelt of her enemy, raking at them until their coat was drenched with blood." You must use phrases like, 'attempted to' or 'tried to' to avoid auto-hitting, and give your fellow roleplayer a chance to choose whether or not to evade the attack.
2. You must roleplay with literacy. You must demonstrate proper use of English grammar, and your posts must be long enough to come close to/exceed the character limit in the FH chatbox. If English is your second language, let us know, and we'll help you!
3. When roleplaying with one or more partners, be considerate and let everybody take their turn posting again. It's incredibly rude to cut someone off or rush someone to finish their post. So, don't do it.
4. ABSOLUTELY NO HARASSMENT. Unless you’re role playing, this is NOT TOLERATED and will result in an immediate ban.
5. Do not curse excessively OOC or IC. Once in a while is fine, but if you spam the chatbox with profanities, you will be warned and temporarily banned.
6. Respect your leader's decisions. Don't whine when your character is punished after breaking a rule, or refuse to perform any duties your leader/deputy has assigned you. They're doing their jobs. You do yours.
7. Respect your medicine cat. I cannot express this enough. The Medicine Cat is an extremely important and respected position in the clan. Do NOT have characters disobey their orders or refuse treatment unless you are given permission by the user to do so. And DO NOT ask to be the medicine cat's apprentice. Medicine cats will choose their apprentices on their own.
8. Respect staff. If you've done something in in the map that requires staff interference, respect any and all disciplinary decisions. Whining will get you no where.
8.1 No mini-modding The staff members know how to do their jobs. They don't need your help. If you see someone disobeying the rules and no staff member is on, report it to a moderator in a pm. Remember, we can't do anything without sufficient proof, so take screenshots.
8.2 Do not pose as a staff member. If you pretend to be a staff member, even if your intentions were good, you will be banned permanently on the spot.
9. DO NOT ASK TO BE STAFF. You will be immediately turned down and probably won’t be asked to be one. When we need staff we will either host auditions or ask a member we feel is responsible enough.
10. Do NOT trespass on other clans' territories. To cross any borders, you must receive permission from both your leader, and the leader whose territory you're trespassing on. BOTH of the leaders must be online while you are on another clan's territory.
Medicine cats may cross borders without leader permission. However, they may only do so if they need to meet with another medicine cat or harvest an herb. Also, they should remember to be polite by notifying the leader when they're on his/her territory.
10.1 Loners, rogues, towncats, and other animals may not enter clan territories without permission. The leader must be online while any foreign organisms are in their territory, unless specified otherwise.
11. No unapproved 'forbidden' love. Forbidden love plots must be laid out and approved by all participating clan leaders and moderators in a PM on the site.
Forbidden love pertaining to medicine cats must be laid out in a pm, and receive permission from the participating clan leader(s), moderator(s), and all three admins.
But please remember that these clans are much more religious than canon clans, and religious devotion is a major part of a medicine cat's role. Failing to resist mating will result in severe punishment and shame on the medicine cat's part.
Rules may be added/removed as the roleplay progresses.
